We are looking for a scientist to support Working Group IR Spectrometry in the implementation of the UltraSNOM project. Your tasks will include:

  • Setting up a scattering-type scanning near-field optical microscope (s-SNOM) in the THz spectral range using synchrotron radiation and laser sources
  • Developing suitable substrates for the s-SNOM for sensitive characterization in the nanorange
  • Quantitative modelling of the s-SNOM using finite element methods
  • Applying the above system for independent research in the following fields:
    • Wide band-gap semiconducting materials relevant to power electronics
    • Soft materials and nanoparticles
    • Thermoelectric photocurrent nanospectroscopy on magnetic surfaces
